This course is intended for learners who have completed 200 or more hours of elementary Japanese. It develops intermediate proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening through structured instruction in grammar, expressions, and communication strategies. Students engage in guided role-plays and discussions on thematic topics and are expected to complete additional reading and writing independently.

Instructor: Yoko Wong

Yoko Wong

Yoko Maruyama Wong is a native of Kanazawa, Japan.  She earned her M.A. in Applied Linguistics at Ohio University.  Yoko has over 25 years of experience teaching and tutoring Japanese to all ages both in Japan and in the U.S.  She had taught Japanese at Kent State University, Case Western Reserve University, John Carroll University, Mesa College, and Southwestern College.   In her classroom, she connects content to students’ real-life experiences.

 

Besides teaching Japanese, Yoko enjoys writing Japanese calligraphy, gardening, hiking, and yoga.
