When you need to crunch numbers for sales, inventory, IT, or other departments, the ability to get the right information to the right people at the right time can create a powerful competitive advantage. The knowledge on how to manage data and effectively present the information is extremely important. To have a competitive edge in today’s world market, you need to have the knowledge to produce reliable and actionable results from your data. Excel is a powerful, economical, and readily available tool that provides a way to extract the data to get the answers for you.
This course will build a strong foundation of knowledge for you to use Excel in the most effective way to analyze your Excel data and keep up with market trends.
Our focus is to help you increase your productivity and minimize your frustration through the power of knowledge of Excel tools.

- Introduction to tables and formatting
- Sorting and filtering
- Number formatting and paste special
- Conditional formatting
- Basics of visualization
- Intermediate charts and graphs
- Understanding Excel's structure and capabilities
- Introduction to Function Library
- Introduction to Pivot Tables

- Expediency tools
Practical Experience: Students will gain hands on experience through a real world analytical project.
Course typically offered: Online during each academic quarter.
Software: Microsoft Office 2016 required, 2019 or Office 365 recommended.
Prerequisites: Students should have basic familiarity with Office products and Excel, specifically.
Next Steps: Upon completion, students will be well prepared for CSE-41161: Advanced Excel for Analysis and Business Intelligence or the Business Intelligence Analysis Certificate.
