Elementary School: Rocket Science

Ready to learn more about NASA's Rockets, space exploration, and what it takes to get to space?

 

We learn the physics behind rockets and current rocket design in this class, culminating in an testable rocket model design and launch. This class provides an introduction to current space exploration and the engineering process behind a successful rocket design, launch, and mission. Students test their ideas about the physics of rockets using a bottle rocket water launch that increases their understanding of Newton’s laws of motion, mathematical problem solving, innovative thinking and artistic aesthetics of the rocket design.

This class will be a combination of lecture, discussion, and hands-on activities.

What You Will Learn

 

Students in Elementary School: Rocket Science will:

  • What is a rocket?
  • Newton's Laws of Motion
  • What engineering practices does it take to get a rocket into space?
  • Designing, constructiing, and launching your own rocket!
