Creative Process I

In the supportive atmosphere of this studio class, you will explore a variety of art materials and techniques with stimulating projects that will spark your innate artistic abilities. Each week, you will experiment with a new medium: colored pencils, charcoal, markers, chalk pastels and colored paper, oil pastels, paints (watercolor, gouache or acrylic), mixed media, and non-art materials. You will be guided through creative risk-taking exercises and assisted in developing a final project.

Prerequisite: None
Note: Required for Art and the Creative Process professional certificate. No prior art experience necessary. 

Materials: Bring to first meeting: 18x24 Strathmore drawing pad (80lb), newsprint pad, 2 graphite pencils (3B or 4B), and white eraser. Complete materials list given in first class meeting.

This learning experience is intentionally designed as a combination of in-class and web-based instruction. In-class meetings follow the published schedule. Students are also expected to engage with course content online during the published course dates.

France-Marie teaches Creative Process ICreative Process IICreative Process III, and Travel Sketching for the Professional Certificate in Art and the Creative Process

She is a Fine Arts instructor, an artist, and a registered board certified art therapist maintaining a private practice in art therapy. She established and directed an art therapy program in Lausanne, Switzerland, taught art, art therapy and expressive arts in graduate and undergraduate programs in Switzerland & the US. She teaches Fine Arts, as well as leading workshops in the creative process and related areas.
