This course will address types and idiosyncrasies of the spoken language as well as micro skills of speaking that are factors in the oral code.
Review current issues in teaching oral communication by analyzing:

This course will suggest fluency and accuracy activities that can be used in and out of the classroom.
Learn factors that hamper improved speaking skills for ESL and ESL learners including:

performable variables

colloquial language

pronunciation factors

interaction
Note: A strong command of English is a prerequisite for this course. (iBT TOEFL:80, TOEIC:760)

Palumbo, Christine
Christine Palumbo (Chrissy) earned her PhD from the University of Arizona Second Language Acquisition and Teaching (SLAT) Interdisciplinary Program, minoring in Teacher Training in Education (TTE) from the College of Education. She earned her master’s degree in systems design from the University of Maryland, and she also has a master’s degree in applied linguistics from the University of Arizona. Most recently, Dr. Palumbo worked together with the DGEC in Costa Rica to develop the theoretical framework for their new national English exam and has been a Program Specialist in the US concentrating on online Live Facilitated Training delivery for both synchronous and asynchronous online training for standardized assessments.
