Singing II
In this course, singers will explore more sophisticated technical issues while continuing to work on the fundamental aspects of good singing in a friendly and supportive environment. The focus will be on developing the skills necessary to perform as a soloist, including posture, breath control, and expressive articulation.
Students will be guided through practical exercises, and will work on songs of various styles in both group and solo settings. Topics to be covered include singing in harmony, how to develop a regular practice routine, and song and performance analysis. Participants will work on a selection of solos and ensemble pieces, and will present your work in an informal final performance open to friends and family.
Prerequisite: familiarity with fundamentals of singing as taught in
Singing I, or equivalent experience.

Nussman, Jonathan, combines a technically detailed approach to the fundamentals of singing with intensive work in musical and dramatic interpretation.
Dr. Jonathan Nussman teaches Singing I and Singing II . He holds a doctoral degree in contemporary vocal performance from UC San Diego, and Masters in Music from the Boston Conservatory. He is a teacher with over a decade of experience working with singers of a variety of styles, ages and levels. Dedicated to a technically informed approach to teaching voice, Dr. Nussman believes that the fundamentals of classical vocal pedagogy can be applied to build a healthy technique in any style of singing including classical, jazz, musical theater and popular styles.
