Effective performance management maximizes employee talent and creativity while supporting retention, development, reward, and motivation. This course teaches students to leverage technology, AI and emerging theories to help managers design systems and practices that engage employees and optimize performance in complex, multi-generational, and evolving workplaces. 

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will:

  • Analyze and explain the business case and return on investment (ROI) for performance management within an organization
  • Evaluate and apply strategies for improving performance and their impact on human behavior across dynamic workplace settings (in-person, remote, hybrid)
  • Align and integrate performance management practices within an organization’s overall talent philosophy
  • Design, implement, and assess an effective, equitable performance management system that fosters an inclusive culture
  • Translate and apply organizational strategy and goals into measurable individual performance objectives

This course can be taken on a stand-alone basis or counted towards our Professional Certificate in Human Resource Management. If you are interested in pursuing the certificate, please ensure you have successfully completed the prerequisite course, Managing HR: An Overview — or plan to take it concurrently with this course.
