This course will provide educators with awareness and knowledge of nature-based, play-based learning techniques to support whole child development and wellbeing. Educators will explore a variety of topics including: the layered benefits of nature play, place-based pedagogy, child-led inquiry and visible thinking techniques, teacher observation and documentation, mindfulness practices to support teacher and child well-being and social-emotional development. Educators will gain practice with developmentally appropriate instructional techniques for embedding preschool learning foundations, school readiness, and evaluation into nature-based play.
