After completing Futures: Essential Employability Skills, students are eligible to enroll in Futures: Micro-Internship where they will continue their professional career exploration journey while building their work experience and professional network. In this next class, students will apply their learning from their previously completed Futures courses through a virtual internship learning opportunity. This virtual internship learning opportunity will take place with a company, a non-profit, a governmental agency, or community-based organization. By participating in this virtual internship learning opportunity, students will link classroom learning to an applied work setting through an actual professional internship experience. Students will participate in direct observation, reflection, evaluation, and gain an understanding of the host company’s work, mission, and audience, and how these areas potentially relate to their academic study, as well as the organization’s position in the broader industry or field. Upon conclusion of the course, students will produce a critical reflection on their internship experience demonstrating how they have addressed specific learning goals.
