Learn to code your own game like Minecraft, Roblox and Animal Crossing
As they learn to use Scratch, students will develop their computational thinking skills while exploring their personal interests. We will cover concepts such as sequences, loops, parallelism, and events. Students will practice creating interactive games and animated movies using block coding. They will discover that they can be designers and creators instead of just consumers of technology. No prior programming experience is necessary – bring only your imagination!

Ruival, Laura
Laura Ruival is a software engineer with 15 years of software development experience. Since graduating from UCSD she has continued to learn everything she can about coding while pursuing a career as a software engineer. In 2018 Laura began teaching coding and robotics for Alpine Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that brings STEAM subjects to elementary schools in the Alpine Union School District. She is also an instructor for the UCSD Extended Studies Futures program which brings computer science courses to high school students. She also teaches coding camps for Sally Ride Science Academy including Scratch programming for elementary students.
