Digital Illustration Using a Graphics Tablet

Learn to maximize the drawing and painting tools inside professional art and design programs while using a graphics tablet. Graphics tablets offer intuitive controls over brushes that emulate natural media while increasing precision and speed. This class will cover the desktop/laptop versions of drawing and painting applications including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Autodesk Sketchbook and Krita. This class will not cover drawing and painting apps for mobile devices such as Procreate for ipad or Clip Studio for Android.
What You Will Learn:
- How to use a graphics tablet to create drawings, paintings and illustrations
- The ability to navigate using tablet and pen shortcuts
- How to make custom brushes optimized for graphics tablets

Prerequisite: none
Materials: Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is strongly recommended. Students will work from home and must possess their own computer, graphics tablet and software.
Note: Class will meet weekly via Zoom. The rest of the course will be taught online asynchronous using Canvas. Elective course for Art and the Creative Process professional certificate.

Carmina Caballes teaches Digital Illustration Using a Graphics Tablet for the Professional Certificate in Art and the Creative Process . Carmina has over ten years of experience as a teacher and graphic designer using programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. She holds an MFA in photography from the California Institute of the Arts and a bachelor's in fine arts with a concentration in studio art from USC.
