Nayeli Strong
Bio
Nayeli Strong has 20 years of professional interpretation experience working in the medical field (developmental disabilities, orthopedics, pediatrics, urology, etc.), legal field (immigration court, depositions, workers’ compensation cases), educational field (IEP meetings), and conferences (health and community centers).She was born in Mexico City and grew up in California. She teaches Spanish for Healthcare Professionals. Nayeli is a Certified Healthcare Interpreter™ (CCHI) and also completed a Professional Certificate in Translation and a Medical and Legal Interpretation Certificate for expert witnesses in criminal court. She has taught college-level interpretation and technology courses since 2019. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies/Political Science from the University of California, San Diego and conducted field research in rural parts of Jalisco and Zacatecas and co-authored a research book called Impacts of Border Enforcement on Mexican Migration: The View from Sending Communities. She began her career as a journalist working for the Orange County Register where she continued her interest in writing stories about the immigrant population and the challenges they faced in the United States as well as their home countries.
