Harry “Scott” Rapoport’s educational journey took him from a BS in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida to a Master’s and PhD at the University of California at San Diego in Bioengineering and Marine Biology (focus on biomaterials and biomechanics), respectively. His postdoctoral training was at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in bioprosthetic heart valves. He’s spent 17 years working in industry in the fields of Regenerative Medicine, Consumer Electronics, and Biotech Instrumentation. Scott has driven product development on over 25 unique products and is an inventor on 10+ patents. Scot has been fortunate in his career to work on cutting-edge technology such as proteomic analyzers, NGS instruments, and 3D bioprinting. Currently, Scott is the CEO and co-Founder of Oterus Biosystems, a company seeking to improve the efficiency of in vitro fertilization (IVF) for families grappling with infertility. Scott has enjoyed peppering his career with teaching opportunities in various subjects: Marine Biochemistry, Geology, Oceanography, Biomimicry, Comparative Physiology, and others. In his free time, Scott enjoys raising two absolute maniac children, cycling, ultra-light backpacking, and surfing.
