Phyllis Meng

Bio

Phyllis Meng spent 28 years at the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority where she was the deputy executive Officer, General Services. She recently started her own educational and consulting company. At LA Metro, Meng and her management team were responsible for maintenance, operation and capital replacement for the agency's 1,800 occupant, 628,000 square foot high rise headquarters building, child care center and East Portal of Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. Her responsibilities included agency wide mail services, copy services, travel and ride share services.

Meng received her BS in business management in 1984 from Cal State Northridge. She became a Certified Facility Manager (CFM) in 1993, Sustainable Facility Professional (SFP) in 2012 and IFMA Fellow in 2002. Meng served on IFMA's board of directors as West Coast Regional vice president and two years as IFMA Foundation chair. She has served as president of the Los Angeles chapter and the Public Sector Facilities Council.

Meng is a BOMI Institute instructor and facilitates their FMA courses. She developed and teaches financial analysis for the UCI Facilities Management Certificate program. Meng is a member of the UCI Facility Management Certificate Advisory board. She has authored numerous articles for the benefit of the facility management profession and has made presentations on leadership, finance, emergency preparedness, contingency planning, real estate and outsourcing at the chapter level, at IFMA's World Workplace and at other conferences.

Meng specializes in providing education to facility professionals along with finance, leadership, project management, sustainability initiatives, operations and maintenance.
