Stephen Foulis has been a research physiologist since 2013. After finishing his doctorate in muscle and exercise physiology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, he completed his post-doc for the United States Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM). He was later employed there to focus on the areas of musculoskeletal injury prevention and physical performance optimization. His work includes being a senior leader in the development of the Occupational Physical Assessment Test (a physical battery recruits must pass to qualify to enter Army Basic Combat training) and the principal investigator of the USARIEM Reduction in Musculoskeletal Injury Study (a multi-year investigation to provide evidence-based recommendations to Army leadership to reduce musculoskeletal injuries during training without reducing standards).Quote
