Bio
Deborah L. Bright is an instructor in the Science Communication Certificate Program at UC San Diego Extension, currently teaching Science Communication II. Deborah has been a professional science communicator for just over a decade. Throughout her career, she has dedicated herself to promoting science literacy and public engagement with science. Her work has been featured in numerous media outlets and has earned multiple awards for excellence in science communication. She serves on the Board of the San Diego Science Writers Association and is an Advocate for the Ruben H. Fleet Science Center, where she participates in the popular “Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar” program. Her instruction emphasizes clarity, audience awareness, and storytelling—essential tools for making science accessible and impactful.
