Bio
Pamela Baker has extensive experience as a leader in Fortune 500 companies including AON (formerly Hewitt Associates), Dell, Motorola and Thermo Fisher (formerly Life Technologies), and she is now a consultant to large organizations. She has held titles including director of program management, program manager and project manager/operational excellence manager, and she has worked in a broad range of industries. As part of Dell’s Professional Services Division (management consulting), she managed projects for external Fortune 500 clients. She began her career at Motorola, where she held numerous positions during her twelve-year tenure. At Motorola, she delivered major customer implementations onsite in the US, Brazil, China, Spain and Korea, where she managed teams in-person and virtually.
Ms. Baker is a skilled practitioner of both project management and Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and she has earned her PMP and the ASQ’s Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certifications. She has demonstrated success delivering $50 million projects and business process improvement initiatives with $5 million in cost savings.
Ms. Baker is an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) in both the San Diego and Orange County chapters. In service to the PMI San Diego chapter, she was recently elected as vice president of communications, where she will oversee communications to over 1800 members and sponsors in the San Diego region. She was previously a member of the PMI Chicagoland chapter for 12 years, where she served on a number of committees. She is an active speaker on project management, Lean Six Sigma and operational excellence, as well as a mentor and career coach to the next generation of project managers.
Ms. Baker earned an MBA from DePaul University, with a major in international business and a bachelor's from Northwestern University in computer science engineering. She has maintained Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) since 2002, along with Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from the American Society of Quality since 2010.
