Bio

Tracy Reed is a cybersecurity consultant, assessor, architect, and educator with more than 25 years of experience in cybersecurity, Linux, infrastructure, and enterprise technology. His work spans security architecture, regulatory compliance, cloud and container security, operational technology and industrial control systems (OT/ICS), and artificial intelligence security and governance.

Reed is a CMMC Lead Assessor and CyberAB-designated Lead CCA with extensive experience implementing and assessing cybersecurity programs based on CMMC and NIST SP 800-171. His assessment and compliance experience also includes PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, and other security and risk-management frameworks. He is a PCI Professional (PCIP) and has performed PCI security assessments for the US Air Force and helped organizations design and implement compliant environments.

His technical experience includes AWS and cloud security, identity and access management, Kubernetes and container security, network and systems security, and OT/ICS environments. His recent work increasingly focuses on artificial intelligence security, risk, and governance. Reed is an ISO/IEC 42001 AI Management System Lead Auditor and works with organizations on AI governance, third-party AI risk, generative AI and large language model security, and integrating AI governance with existing cybersecurity and compliance programs.

Reed is also an FAA Airline Transport Pilot and draws on aviation's mature approaches to risk management, human factors, and operational discipline in his cybersecurity work.

At UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies, Reed brings his practical consulting, assessment, and engineering experience into the classroom, connecting technical implementation with cybersecurity risk, governance, and real-world security requirements.
