Bio
David Pierce has more than 40 years of experience in fundraising and nonprofit management. He served as an Executive Director of the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation for a number of years, administering the foundation’s grant making programs. He has also served as Development Director for the La Jolla Music Society and the local chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. In his various fundraising positions, he has worked on Grant Writing, Direct Mail, Major Gifts, Research, Donor Acknowledgment, and Capital Campaigns. He also has extensive experience in grants management and reporting.
David has also volunteered on the Board of Directors of the local Association of Fundraising Professionals and the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus. In his years with the Chorus, David was elected President, Vice-President, and Director of Development. He has also volunteered for the San Diego Museum Council, which is a membership organization of more than 50 nonprofit museums in San Diego County.
He has been an instructor for UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies’ Fundraising and Development Certificate program for more than 20 years, having taught Grant Writing, Major Gifts and Capital Campaigns.

He is a published author whose novel, Elf Child, was a finalist for a national Lambda Literary Award.
