Monthly HR Leadership Events at UC San Diego Extended Studies

Join us for a series of free and distinctive monthly events to connect and engage with San Diego’s dynamic HR community.

Each event is unique. Each month, we announce a new event and open the registration for that particular event. While COVID-19 keeps us from meeting in-person, online events are being offered.  Once we can resume our group gatherings, events will be held at UCSD Extension’s off campus building or will be hosted by companies throughout San Diego known for their innovation and success.

HR leaders and experts in their fields openly present their best practices, visionary ideas, practical solutions to challenges, and insight-provoking learning lessons. Discussions are candid and stimulating. Participants acquire key takeaways that can be immediately applied to their daily work and careers.

While there is no cost to attend, these events are limited to guests who are HR VPs, Directors, Managers, developing HR professionals aspiring to be in corporate HR roles, and participants/alumni of the UCSD HR Certificate and Leadership Programs.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions we have moved our events online.

Date & Time: 10/20/22 - 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

UCSD HR Leadership Remote Event:
There’s never been a more important time to share ethical wisdom, whether in the conference room, board room, or at the kitchen table. Ethics is all about fairness in the workplace and how conduct-related matters should be treated, whether via compliance or by making ethics personal and the core of your professional and personal brand. Join us as we discuss the practical applications of ethics at work, including:

  • Performance vs. Conduct: a critical employment law distinction
  • Sameness vs. Consistency: a potential ethical quagmire
  • A refresher on the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and its surprisingly significant “teeth”
  • Transitioning from a compliance mindset to making ethics personal and a core component of your leadership strategy
  • Common ethical challenges that face HR and operational leaders alike on a regular basis, including gender pay-equity, artificial intelligence, and other hot topics
