Lactation Education Refresher
RMED-40036
The 20-hour Lactation Education Refresher course is intended for all lactation professionals or healthcare providers who have completed a 45 hour Lactation Education Counselor course and are seeking a refresher course to fulfill continuing education requirements or for International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) needing CERPs. IBCLCs can obtain 5 E-CERPs and 15 L-CERPs by successfully completing the course.
The course covers a myriad of topics from prenatal to weaning and includes several expert guest speakers. Healthcare providers and lactation professionals, including International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs), Certified Lactation Consultants (CLCs), and Lactation Educators, will all benefit from this evidence based curriculum using best practices.
Students must submit an application to enroll in the Lactation Education Refresher (LER) course. The simple application process includes uploading an award of completion of a 45-hour Lactation Education Counselor (LEC) course or a current credential (IBCLC, CLC, etc.). If the LEC or LER course was completed prior to fall 2021, we recommend taking the LER five years after the date of completion. If the LEC or LER was completed after the fall 2021 quarter, we recommend enrolling in the LER three years after the date of completion.
Once a student’s application is accepted, they will receive an email with instructions on how to enroll. The cost of the online asynchronous course is $285.
Canvas, our online learning platform, is not compatible with smart phones or tablet devices. We recommend students plan to use a laptop or desktop for our courses.
This enduring course does not expire. This course is approved for 20 hours by BRN and LEAARC. UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development (CE hours) by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), provider number 0058 (no partial credit is awarded); and the Lactation Education Accreditation and Approval Review Committee (LEAARC). No one in a position to control content has a relevant financial relationship with an ineligible company.
