Implicit Bias, Racial Bias and Culturally Responsive Relationships with Students is designed to provide learners with practical professional learning in cultural competency and implicit bias. Students will examine the knowledge and dispositions necessary to improve relationships with diverse students in ways that reduce disproportionate exclusionary disciplinary consequences. Students will also examine how implicit biases undermine achievement for diverse students and contribute to disproportionate exclusionary discipline in schools. A central focus will be the intersection of research, policy, and practice to ensure k-12 educational contexts are welcoming and are effective at educating diverse students.
