High School: Digital Media Lab: Content Creation & Animation for Today's World

A makerspace is a community space where people get together to learn how to think, make, and create. In this course, students will use the Sally Ride Science (SRS) Makerspace to explore the software and hardware necessary to create engaging, professional digital media content. Students will explore the creation of short- and long-form videos, utilize digital animation software and produce media to facilitate an exciting product pitch.

What you'll learn

  • Students will familiarize themselves with concepts and skills necessary to storyboard, create, and edit digital media content
  • Students will be able to identify and create digital content for scenarios such as the workplace, consumer/marketing scenarios, and social media audiences
  • Students will create short- and long-form videos
  • Students will be introduced to green screen and animated video techniques
  • Students will be used digital media content and animation as part of a product pitch and development process
  • Students will strengthen their problem-solving and critical thinking skills
