Cyano Type: The Original Selfie

WKSP-90055

Have you ever wondered how scientists, artists, architects created images before digital cameras existed? This class will offer a rare hands-on experience with the chemistry of the very first photographic images! You will use historic photo processes to create your own photo paper, negatives and even turn a t-shirt into a photographic surface. The course will show you how to use the sun to turn them into amazing blue pictures, blueprints, scientific images and much more. We will introduce a brief history of camera, the world of botanist and first published photographer Anna Atkins, the inspiring plans of architect Buckminster Fuller, along with living artists using this process today. We will explore the possibilities of making your own images just like they did. If you love taking photos, this is definitely a class for you! No experience necessary!
