All K-12 Dual Language teachers need to be aware of how a Dual Language program works, how each language is developed, and why they are beneficial to student learning and growth. Dual Language teachers need to understand how bilingualism/biliteracy relates to their classroom, subject areas, and the real world. Topics in this course include bilingualism/biliteracy, high achievement in both program languages, and sociocultural competence.

Note: This is the first required course in the Dual Language Immersion program. The second required course is Curriculum Development in Dual Language Immersion. The third required course is Educational Leadership in Dual Language Immersion. The last required course is Assessment & Accountability in Dual Language Immersion. The courses may not be taken out of order.
