Elements and principles, color, type, composition
This is an introductory course that will cover the elements or principles, of visual design including; contrast, balance, emphasis, movement, white space, proportion, hierarchy, repetition, rhythm, pattern, unity, and variety. These principles of design work together to create something that is aesthetically pleasing and optimizes the user experience.
Quarters Offered: Fall, Winter, Spring | Online
Course Fee: $595
Prerequisite: A basic to intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, especially in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. This can be demonstrated by completion of the recommended prerequisites in the course matrix, or previous educational or professional experience.
Software: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro. Adobe InDesign is recommended, but not required.

Escobedo, Maximo
Máximo Escobedo teaches Introduction to Design and Design II: Information Design for the Communication Design certificate program.
He is an accomplished designer with nearly 30 years of professional experience. He studied graphic design at San Diego State University and is a graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena with a degree in Graphics and Packaging Design. His work has been recognized by numerous local and national organizations, such as the American Institute of Graphics Arts (AIGA), Ad Club, Communications Arts, Behance, LogoLounge, Step by Step 100, and Print Regional Design Annual.
