Stress causes changes in gene expression related to metabolic activity in the brain. But the changes are different in different species. In this course, high school students will analyze gene expression during oxidative stress in fruit flies. High school students will use their observations to draw conclusions about the metabolic pathways used by different organisms during stress. The focus is on helping participants learn to apply advanced molecular biology concepts in a research setting.
This course is part of Life Sciences Research Program for High Schoolers.
Note: Students will work in the lab at the San Diego Science Center.
