Color Theory for Fine Artists
10 Weeks | $325 | In-Class

Color Theory for the Fine Artist will focus on understanding the properties of color and the visual relationships between colors. The Artist’s Subtractive RYB Color Mixing Model will be used to create color palettes to understand the characteristics of color through harmony and contrast. You will also learn how to create color studies to develop an understanding of color relationships both in isolation and applied to compositions. Color and its relationship to composition and point of view will be emphasized. Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to compare and contrast hue, value and saturation. The design principles of unity, variety, contrast, dominance, balance and harmony will be applied to solving design/compositional problems through individual assignments, color studies and paintings.
