The ELA digital experience will bring educators together in a vibrant community of practice where they will engage in a year-long learning journey leveraging synchronous and asynchronous learning. ELA teachers will become familiar with and deepen their understanding of the Critical Reading Process and how it provides access to rigorous non-fiction, fiction, and nontraditional texts. Educators will explore how the intentional integration of speaking and listening—with an emphasis on using the academic language of the discipline, communication across a wide variety of situations and audiences, and developing active listening skills while engaging in content enrich learning. Writing—to communicate, to deepen understanding of content, and for authentic audiences will be at the heart of this learning journey for ELA teachers.
This community of practice is designed to support ELA teachers new to AVID instructional methodologies as well as ELA teachers experienced with incorporating WICOR into their classroom learning environment.
