This differentiated AVID Excel Community of Practice is designed for new and experienced AVID Excel teachers, site administrators, and District Directors. This Community of Practice will explore the Foundations of Instruction to make informed and intentional decisions about instruction appropriate for long-term English learners. Beginning this summer, participants will engage in both synchronous and asynchronous learning. Participants will learn how to monitor and coach students and tutors in implementing rigorous Scholar Groups while maintaining a focus on academic language development. Educators will connect with colleagues year-round to deepen and broaden their learning through Choice Sessions, and will practice and discuss strategies, activities, and lessons focused on continuous improvement in AVID Excel in order to facilitate students’ access to rigorous academics across all content areas.
