Bio
Christopher’s interest in beer first began as a homebrewer in Austin, Texas, in the late 80s while at the University of Texas, where he studied both Physical Anthropology and German Literature. After working at a number of breweries in the United States and Germany in the burgeoning craft brewing industry, together with his wife, he attended the Technische Universität München-Weihenstephan, receiving a Masters of Science degree (Diplom Ingenieur) in Brewing Science and Beverage Technology. He and his wife are still based in Freising, Germany, and work as freelance teachers, consultants, writers and translators, while keeping their fingers on the pulse of the international brewing and beverage industries. As avid travellers, they are often in pursuit of rare and unique beers and brewing techniques. Each of Christopher’s fields of study and interest – science, engineering, history and philology – converge in the realm of brewing history.
