Sarah Calfee is the Owner and Principal Consultant of Calfee HR Consulting. She helps her clients with issues of training and development, standard HR compliance, HR strategy, and more. Her background includes 25 years of corporate HR experience in technology, manufacturing, retail, and other sectors in companies ranging from small, early start-ups to large, mature organizations. Sarah also serves as President-Elect for the San Diego Society of Human Resources Management and as an Advisory Board member for the Best and Brightest - San Diego chapter. She holds an MBA, is SHRM-SCP certified, and received certification as a Certified Diversity Practitioner through DTUI.
Sarah first taught in undergraduate school teaching elementary school students. In graduate school, she taught courses to college students. And throughout her HR career, she has developed and conducted training of many different topics and with different audiences. Most recently, she taught a SHRM-CP/SCP certification course. But her favorite was when she was on the steering committee for her company’s Inclusion Committee, where she developed and led Inclusion training for Inclusion Committee members and employees at-large throughout the company.
Beyond the traditional HR focus, Sarah has a passion for issues related to Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Equity. She believes that organizations are most successful when they have a strategy for developing inclusive behaviors that lead to a sense of belonging for all employees. It goes beyond well compliance and into human behavior and culture competency. Her ultimate goal is to be part of the movement that develops healthier and happier employees, organizations, and all members of society.
