In 1992, UC San Diego’s interest and suggestions helped the U.S. Department of Labor – OSHA , Office of Training and Education (OTE) to create the OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC), a network for premiere safety training. This includes universities, colleges, and non-profit organizations that provide unrivaled safety training. UC San Diego was one of the first four authorized training centers. The UCSD OTIEC represents OSHA’s Region 9 and provides courses in 11 locations.
