Professor Silke Paust
Featured Speaker: Professor Silke Paust
Our immune system surveys our bodies for tumors that it can eliminate. Over time, however, tumors learn to escape immune surveillance mechanisms and immune cells become exhausted, resulting in malignancies. In this lecture, Silke Paust will share how her laboratory is using powerful immunological and imaging techniques to understand what immune cells need to infiltrate and eradicate solid tumors and their metastatic tissues. This research will address knowledge gaps in the field of tumor immunology and enable the design of safe and effective immunotherapy products for difficult-to-treat, highly metastatic cancers.
Presenter Biography
Presenter: Silke Paust obtained her PhD in immunology in 2005 from Harvard University. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at Scripps Research Institute. Members of the Paust laboratory are interested in the development and testing of novel immunotherapies that elicit clinically relevant Natural Killer Cell mediated anti-pathogen or anti-tumor immunity.
