Featured Speaker: Alberto Pulido
This lecture will first explore Chicano Park in San Diego, the most recent national landmark. It will speak of the pillars of resistance and re-inscription as metaphors for better understanding Chicano Park and Chicano history. We will also discuss San Diego’s Lowrider History: Living the Life of Low and Slow - Lessons from the Streets - the expressions of lowriding within the Chicano Community of San Diego and Tijuana. By examining the concepts of “low and slow,” we will better understand the lowrider lifestyle that began in the streets of southern California and is now an international phenomenon. Following the lecture, we will have the opportunity to visit a lowrider car in the adjacent parking lot and talk with the owner
