Featured Speaker: Constantine Dillon, M.P.A.
This lecture will trace the human history that shaped
Yellowstone National Park, including how it came to
be established and the challenges faced by early park
managers in controlling poaching and commercial
exploitation before the National Park Service was
established. The presentation will consider some of
the challenges of managing two million acres of land
with a permanent staff of fewer than 350 people.
Presenter Biography
Constantine (Costa) Dillon is a retired
National Park Service ranger and superintendent.
He worked in more than a dozen parks in a
career spanning 40 years. He was also the Chief
of Training and Employee Development for the
National Park Service and managed the National
Park Service’s Albright Training Center at the
Grand Canyon. He has a B.S. in Environmental
Planning and Management (Park Option) from UC
Davis and a Master of Public Administration from
the University of Colorado.
