Look out Orange County, San Diego County is hot on your trail.

An article published earlier this month in U-T San Diego reported that the September unemployment rate in San Diego County is down just slightly to 5.9%, not seasonally adjusted, which sets it equal to the national rate.

The article goes on to state that in September 2013, the unemployment rate was 7.3% in San Diego, and the job growth since then has outpaced Los Angeles and Orange County, California, and the nation.

Not only has the job growth in the region been strong over the last year, the majority of the growth had been in the life sciences, where the average salary in the profession is $78,904.
