Featured Speaker: Professor Nadir Weibel
Healthcare bias — based on patients’ race, gender, and sexual orientation — leads to health disparities and a lack of appropriate treatment. New approaches to address hidden healthcare bias by promoting more effective patient-doctor communication have been shown to be effective in improving quality of care. This lecture will discuss the UnBIASED tool, designed to make hidden bias visible and addressable by detecting social signals from patient-provider conversations. This work is based on machine learning and Human-Centered Design to enable the development of effective clinical interventions in the real world.
