Featured Speaker: Professor David Danks
There is now widespread recognition that it is
important for our AI systems to be developed and
deployed responsibly, but much less clarity about
what exactly that means. Moreover, the state of the
science, ethics, practice, and regulation are changing
rapidly. This presentation will examine some recent
events in this regard, with an additional focus on the
events as of April 2024.
Presenter Biography
David Danks is Professor of Data
Science and Philosophy at UCSD. He works
broadly on AI and cognition, ranging from
designing new algorithms, understanding the
ethical and societal impacts, and developing
computational models of human cognition. He
serves on a number of advisory boards, including
the National AI Advisory Committee. He received
his B.A. from Princeton and an M.A. and Ph.D.
from UCSD.
