Almost all of us will undergo an anesthetic at some point in our lives, whether to facilitate surgery, relieve the pain of childbirth, or allow the treatment of an injury. What is anesthesia, how does it work, and what kinds are there? This lecture will cover a brief history of anesthesiology and the basics of anesthetic care with an emphasis on surgical procedures and post-operative. pain management.
Presenter Biography
Jeff Sakihara is an anesthesiologist recently retired from Scripps Memorial Hospital, Encinitas. He received his MD from UCSD School of Medicine, and completed his internship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago and anesthesiology residency at UCSD Medical Center.
