Featured Speaker: Maud Rau, Ph.D.
San Diego has played an important role in the
advancement of aviation over the past 150 years.
This talk will discuss the evolution of San Diego as a
center for the major milestones in both military and
civilian aviation from the 1880s to today. Join us as
we uncover the remarkable people and pivotal events
in aviation history that took place in San Diego.
Presenter Biography
Maud Rau is a retired Chemical
Engineer. He has over 36 years of industrial
R&D experience with major chemical and
semiconductor-materials companies in which he
held senior positions in R&D management. He
has a Ph.D. and M.S. in materials science from
Pennsylvania State University and a bachelor’s
degree in chemical engineering from the New
Jersey Institute of Technology. He has been a
docent at the San Diego Air and Space Museum
since the spring of 2022 and is a popular speaker
at Osher. He enjoys technology, history and
teaching, so being a docent at the museum is a
perfect fit.
