Trauma-Resilient Educational Communities (TREC), a non-profit organization whose mission is to deliver educational resources and programs dedicated to equitable-practices and healing-centered relationships that increase resilience and overall wellness in individuals and organizations.
TREC has developed a holistic framework grounded in Positive and Adverse Childhood Experience (PACEs) Science that combines principles and approaches from Social Emotional Learning (SEL), trauma-informed care, restorative justice, socio-ecological, and public health models.
Educational Courses Based on Dr. Vincent Felitti's ACE Study
The Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Study is a major research study that compares current adult health status to childhood experiences deacades earlier.
The ACE Study reveals a powerful relation between our emotional experiences as children and our adult emotional health, physical health, and major causes of mortality in the United States.
→ 64% of US Adults reported they had experienced at least one type of ACE before age 18
→ 1.9 million heart disease cases and 21 million depression cases potentially could have been avoided
→ All Children in Risk. Numerous studies have show inequalities in such experiences linked to the historical, social and economic environments
Through our Trauma-Resilient Professional certification for individuals and Trauma-Resilient Organization accreditation for organizations, TREC prioritizes the well-being and mental health of both the staff and those they serve recognizing the prevalence and impact of trauma and implementing trauma-resilient strategies to support healing, resilience, and success for all.
