Emergency Preparedness for Healthcare Facilities: A Free Webinar

This webinar is designed for healthcare providers and suppliers impacted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Emergency Preparedness (EP) Requirements, such as hospitals, long term care, or primary care. All of the 17 CMS providers must comply with the EP Requirements by November 15, 2017.
Providers must be able to:
- Identify Hazard Risks and Vulnerabilities
- Develop Emergency Operations Plans (EOP)
- Develop internal and external Communication Plans
- Train staff annually on EOP elements
- Test plans with full scale, functional and tabletop drills & exercises
During the free webinar the audience will learn:
- The CMS Emergency Preparedness Requirements
- Audience training priorities related to the CMS EP Requirements
- Self-assessment tools
- Information regarding the topics covered in an upcoming in-person training day
Speakers
Nora O’Brien: Nora has been a healthcare emergency management and business continuity planning expert, seasoned speaker since 2002. She is the principal boss lady of Connect Consulting Services, a firm she started in 2009 which takes a holistic approach to healthcare emergency management, business continuity, and disaster recovery. Connect Consulting Services helps clients prepare for, learn the necessary skills to respond to, and recover from disaster through our customized and effective emergency preparedness planning, training and exercise services.
Austin Howe: Austin Howe, MHS, CEM, is the Director of Business Continuity, Emergency Management and Security at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, the 2nd largest affiliate in the country. His region encompasses the three most southern counties in California and is responsible for the safety and continuity planning for 23 facilities. He has been instrumental in handling crisis communications and implementing a national active shooter curriculum for 650 health centers in the aftermath of the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooting. He also serves on the national Physical Security Affiliate Workgroup for the organization. Austin is also a private consultant for susceptible facilities in natural or potentially man-made disaster areas.
