This unique and exciting program will help you, as an au pair working in the United States, to gain the most from your American experience. The program can also satisfy the U.S. Department of State au pair educational requirement. It is very affordable and may be customized to fit your needs. Most au pairs can earn all the hours they need by completing one of our 4-day weekend courses, plus pre-assignments and follow-up work.
Through a fun and interesting combination of classroom discussions, field trips, community engagement, and other activities, you will learn important skills for dealing with the cultural and personal challenges that international visitors in the U.S. often face. Make a Difference
You will identify personal learning goals for your international experience and complete related projects and activities. You will also interact directly in American life by participating in community-based learning experiences in San Diego and within the communities where you live. In addition, you will learn strategies for resolving conflicts you may encounter while living abroad. This will help you better understand culture shock and how it can affect you both in the U.S. and when returning home. Finally, you will learn about and experience the rich cultural diversity inherent in U.S. communities, with a specific focus on San Diego.
Discover the U.S.
In addition to gaining a greater understanding of the United States and the San Diego area, you will also have the opportunity to share your home country’s culture with other students and compare it to key aspects of American life. You will gain in-depth knowledge of U.S. customs, rituals, celebrations, and important holidays while also learning about issues in U.S. politics and exciting events in U.S. history, some of which were centered in San Diego. Through various field trips and activities, you will be able to explore some of the important historical sites that you’ve learned about in class.

Get the most out of your time in the United States by improving your English skills! Learn about American accents, cultural traditions, and travel tips--all while getting to explore the sights and history of San Diego!
Practice your listening and speaking skilsl with interesting classroom discussions and workshops, and strengthen your reading and writing skills with written assignemnts. Learning American experessions and idioms will help you speak like a native!
