Meera Kodukulla


I am a seasoned Medical Affairs leader with extensive experience across academia and industry. I was Director and Therapeutic Area Head for Cardiovascular in the Global Medical Writing department at Amgen. I led a team of scientific writers and professionals, and provided strategic, tactical, and operational leadership of the cardiovascular team. I was responsible for the rapid, transparent, and scientifically rigorous dissemination of key scientific and clinical data from the cardiovascular and inflammation drug candidates. I have extensive experience in medical writing, publication planning and execution, strategic communications, and expert opinion leader management, and have led global teams to achieving high impact organizational goals.

Prior to joining Amgen, I was a Research Scientist at the Crump Institute of Molecular Imaging at the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA; my research interests included molecular imaging of reporter gene expression and its application in early cancer detection; I have published several research manuscripts and co-authored book chapters. I advised the Amgen cardiovascular medical leadership team on multifaceted aspects related to scientific communication strategies. I have a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and completed my post-doctoral training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

I am passionate about coaching, mentoring, and empowering teams to perform at their full potential. I am a certified coach and trainer in social and emotional intelligence, and pursue my passion through coaching individuals and teams in emotional intelligence and organizational leadership.
I am an active volunteer leader with the Healthcare Businesswomens Association (HBA) and lead mentoring programs for the Southern California chapter.
