Will Carless, LL.B. 

Will Carless was one of the first journalists to be put on the extremism beat full-time, first at the Center for Investigative Reporting and, since 2020, for USA TODAY. He has watched extremist groups swell and deflate and reform in the wake of the January 6 insurrection. Hear stories from inside the dystopian whirl. Presenter Biography

Presenter: Will Carless has been teaching at UC San Diego Extended Studies since early 2023. Before that, the last time he spent at a university was at the University of Exeter in the UK, where he gained an honors degree in law. He put this to practice as a lawyer in London for three weeks before ditching that career and boarding a plane to California to become a journalist. Twenty years later, he has reported from all over the world and now works as a national correspondent for USA TODAY covering extremism and emerging issues.
