Featured Speaker: Jacob Fraden, Ph.D.
Our lecturer, a professional inventor, will share his personal experiences in inventing several popular products and bringing new ideas to fruition. He will discuss the pros and cons of patenting inventions, monetizing ideas and patents, and starting new businesses to produce innovative products. A few of the remarkable American inventions made during the last 250 years (from 1790 — the year of patent No.1) will be discussed and the stories of some great U.S. inventors will be briefly told. Several amusing and even “crazy” inventions will be shown to exemplify what some creative people may think of.
Presenter Biography
Jacob Fraden is an inventor, entrepreneur, writer, and artist. He holds degrees of MSEE and Ph.D. in medical instrumentation. His principal area of expertise is in sensors and instruments for monitoring and measuring a broad range of signals. Among his many inventions is the infrared thermometer for measuring body temperature. He has authored over 60 patents and published several books. His bestselling manual on sensors was translated into several languages and has been used as a textbook at many universities worldwide. He has lectured at several universities (Yale, Madison Wisconsin, University of Michigan, UCSD and others). Jacob’s paintings have been exhibited in the throughout the U.S. His personal website is www.fraden.com
