This course examines the issues and hazards affecting the safety of event production workers. Students will be introduced to legal and regulatory concepts, including duty of care, regulatory bodies, training, documentation, multi-employer workplace concerns, and general human resources (HR) concepts related to safety. The course also addresses workplace hazards commonly encountered by event workers, such as electricity, working at height, fatigue, heat, machinery, dropped objects, and material handling. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify the major physical hazards associated with the different phases of event production, accurately describe stakeholder responsibilities, and develop tools to manage safety during various job processes.
