Featured Speaker: Christopher Ashley
The inside story of the La Jolla Playhouse will be presented by a man who has been instrumental in its development. Among the topics he will discuss are how performances are selected, scheduled, and funded, and the many challenges that arise along the way. This lecture will be a preview of the backstage tour of the La Jolla Playhouse on Thursday afternoon, April 13.
Presenter Biography
Christopher Ashley has served as La Jolla Playhouse’s Artistic Director since 2007. During his tenure, he has directed, among many other productions, Come From Away, Diana: The Musical, Memphis, Glengarry Glen Ross, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He spearheaded the Playhouse’s Without Walls (WOW) initiative, the DNA New Work Series, and the Resident Theatre program. Ashley won Tony Awards for Come From Away and The Rocky Horror Show. He is the recipient of the Princess Grace Award and the Drama League Director Fellowship.
