Can You Hear Me Now: A Listening Guide To Everything
Speaker
Professor Michael Gerdes
Coordinator
Nancy Neigus
It has been said that writing about music is like
dancing about architecture. But can listeners find
deeper levels of experience and understanding
that they can share with one another? This lecture
will explore and introduce theories of listening to
different genres of art and pop music prescribed
by philosophers, composers, conductors and the
musicians themselves. Can how we listen change
the way we feel about the music we love?
